“It was the final day of our HONEYMOON safari in Tanzania. Bill and I, still GLOWING from our Virginia wedding, were en route to Kilimanjaro International Airport when the driver said, ‘You’re lucky… you can see the MOUNTAIN today.’
There it stood… majestic, snow-capped KILIMANJARO, rising above the clouds like a blessing.
As I gazed at it, MEMORIES of my 2014 SUMMIT came rushing back. The grueling climb. The moment I NEARLY TURNED back in fear. The quiet whisper from the Holy Spirit at the top: “You win.”
Back then, the mountain was a place of healing from the heartbreak of a broken relationship. I was once again STRUGGLING with the quiet torment of SINGLE LIFE… when I really wanted to be married.
Now, the mountain stood as PROOF of answered prayer. I WASN’T ALONE anymore. I had Bill. I had love.
When the driver pulled over for a photo, I felt the inner joy of having CONQUERED SINGLE LIFE… and the pure JOY OF MARRIED LIFE… just like I felt when I stood atop that mountain in the photo behind us.
As we continued, I asked the driver his name.
He smiled and said, “God Listened.”
I blinked. “No, really. What’s your name?”
He gently repeated: “‘GOD LISTENED’. My mother waited for me for years. When I was FINALLY born, she NAMED me that!”
Bill and I both smiled. Tears welled in my eyes.
I knew this Godwink was signifying… after years of praying, hoping, and holding-on through SINGLEHOOD…I realized... that God had LISTENED to ME TOO.”
