This true story occurred three years ago where we live, on Martha's Vineyard.

THREE PASTORS and members of each of their churches came together for a combined Maudy Thursday evening service to commemorate GOOD FRIDAY, the day Jesus died on the cross… adjacent to two criminals on other crosses.

It had been decided that the three PASTORS would speak for three minutes… EACH representing the POINT of VIEW of one of the persons occupying a CROSS.

The FIRST pastor represented a CRIMINAL, who mockingly said to Jesus, “If you’re really Christ, save yourself and us.”* 

The OTHER criminal, depicted by the next pastor, DEFENDED JESUS saying “he has done nothing wrong,”** while admitting his own sin and his belief in Christ.

The THIRD pastor spoke on behalf of JESUS. Ignoring the mocking criminal, he provided a PROMISE to the second criminal, saying, “You will be with me in PARADISE.”*** 

The simple MESSAGE was still RESONATING with Louise and me as we prepared breakfast the next MORNING, Good Friday.

Then we SUDDENLY SAW how GOD had decided to JOIN our conversation… with a GODWINK.

AS we were talking about the Three Crosses… we saw from our kitchen window... THREE REFLECTIONS on the house next door in the FORM of CROSSES!

Once we exclaimed “Wow… what are the odds of that”… we comprehended that the MESSAGE of GOOD FRIDAY… is ACKNOWLEDGMENT. 

ACCEPT JESUS … and He’ll invite you to Paradise. Simple as that.
