This is Greg’s story of trying to be KIND to a STRANGER… but becoming a GODWINK LINK.
“It was 10pm in Los Angeles. I FOUND a WALLET while entering a bowling alley.
In it was a driver’s license of a man named GEORGE (plus last name), early 20's.
I ask the cashier to PAGE him. No response.
I walked to the ADJOINING DELI, they also paged him. NO RESPONSE.
I thought, well, I’ll just MAIL him the wallet the NEXT DAY. So, I stuck it in my pocket.
On the way home, I had an IMPULSE to pull into a CONVENIENCE store!
Standing in line, a couple guys ahead of me were talking. In a consoling voice one said, 'Hey, it was ONLY A WALLET.'
The other guy shrugged.
I’ve had so many Godwinks in my life I TOOK A SHOT, saying… 'ARE YOU GEORGE (plus the last name)'?
Puzzled, he said YES.
I handed him the wallet.
'NO WAY!’ he shouted.'
Now I shrugged. ‘IT’S A GODWINK.'”
