FINDING LOVE ON A TRAIN

FINDING LOVE ON A TRAIN

SQuire Rushnell

"Men—they simply are not worth the effort," Myra decided. Divorced and resolved to ABANDON all fairy-tale HOPES, she felt liberated.

She was riding a cross-country TRAIN with her married sister, Sheila. In the lounge car Sheila spotted a HANDSOME MAN and said she was going to ask him to join them.

“No, thank you,” Myra said, rising. “You invite him. I’m going to read.”

Returning later, she found Sheila still chatting with the gentleman. COAXED to JOIN, he introduced himself as Malcolm. Noting his British accent, Myra asked where he lived.

“Maidstone.”

Her EYEBROWS ascended—her BOSS at the San Diego Zoological Society had just accepted a post in England... and that sounded familiar.

“That's where LEEDS CASTLE is?” she asked.

“Yes.”

She told him her BOSS was now HEADING UP that famous visitor attraction!

Malcolm reached into his briefcase and produced a LONDON NEWSPAPER.

“And THIS IS HE!” he said, pointing to a front-page photo. It was HER BOSS!

As Myra and Malcolm became engrossed in conversation, Sheila slipped away.

“How much time do you spend in America?” she asked.

“Until my wife died, we lived in LAS VEGAS. We own a Travelodge.”

A flash of memory struck Myra. Years before, working at a printing firm, she’d inexplicably paused over a single business card among thousands—reading “BETTY & MALCOLM Hickman, Las Vegas.”

That detail had stuck in her mind.

“Your wife’s NAME was Betty!” she blurted.

Malcolm was astonished.

As the sun set, and the train passed from town to country, the Godwinks felt like divine SIGNPOSTS rather than chance.

By JOURNEY’S END, two strangers were at the THRESHOLD of an enduring LOVE… bound by startling GODWINKS… and destined to marry.

That wonderful story, in our book, “Godwinks on Love” always suggests the delight and serendipity of falling in love when you least expect it.

If you’re cautious about EXPECTING LOVE… at the very least, allow yourself to EXPECT Godwinks.

Wishes for winks of Joy.
